ABOUT US – IT’S ABOUT SEA LIFE BENEFIT & PADDLE-OUT 2
“It’s About Sea Life Benefit & Paddle-Out” was conceived by a group of San Francisco based surfer/environmentalists who wanted to bring together surfers and ocean lovers who are concerned about the continuing threats facing our coastlines and marine ecosystems.
The yearly event is presented by San Francisco’s based action sports company, Surf Addict Clothing, Accessories & Training, and takes place at the Aquarium of the Bay – PIER 39, at the Fisherman’s Wharf.
The event is focused on raising awareness of ocean and coastal conservation issues, and benefit the work of ocean related non-profit organizations such as SurfAid International, Save the Waves Coalition, Surfrider Foundation and The Marine Mammal Center.
The Benefit features live music, passed hors’dourves and no-host bar, door and raffle prizes, silent auction, and the chance to bid on one-of-a-kind items in a live auction – all set amongst the dramatic environs of the Aquarium of the Bay. Attendees are treated to surprise film trailer screenings and celebrity-surfer appearances.
The morning Paddle-Out Ceremony is followed by an opportunity to speak to sea life protection and environmental non-profit organization representatives about their causes and quest to preserve the ocean and sea life.
IASL’s 2009 event will feature a Yoga Session, led by Rochelle Ballard, at the San Francisco Bay Club, to help promote Rochelle Ballard’s new video, “Surf Into Yoga” and revert proceeds back to this 2009’s beneficiaries.
